One response to “About”
Your article about Civil War General Orlando Bolivar Willcox contains many details about his life that are invaluable to anyone researching his life.
However, I have identified a photograph in the article which I am convinced is mislabeled.
The fourth illustration says is is an image of GEN Willcox and his staff at First Bull Run 1861.
However, I am certain that this is a photo taken at Cold Harbor in 1864. There are several similar images on line taken at the same time.
Key anomaly in the “Bull Run 1861” image is the IX Corps flag. The IX Corps was not established until early 1862 under MGEN Ambrose Burnside.
The similarities in the backgrounds of the Praeteritum photo and other Cold Harbor photos also prove the point.
